How To Create Your Own Website

To start making money online with a website or blog the first thing you need to know is how to create your own website. Fear not though! This is actually very easy to do and you don’t have to know a ton of technical stuff to create a great looking and great functioning website. Follow the steps below and you’ll have a website or blog up and running in no time!

How to Create Your Own Website--Step 1: Sign up for hosting and buy a domain name

I highly recommend you sign up with BlueHost to host your website. They are who I use and they’re very reliable, easy to use, cheap, and have excellent customer service.

During the sign up process with BlueHost they allow you to select a free domain name.

How to Create Your Own Website—Step 2: Install Wordpress

I would recommend you use the blogging platform, Wordpress. I have used and researched many blogging platforms and Wordpress is the best. If you are using a decent host like BlueHost, all you have to do is use their one click installation for Wordpress and you will instantly be ready to start blogging.

How to Create Your Own Website—Step 3: Upload a theme

Now that you have a website, you need to make it look nice. So either upload a free theme for your Wordpress website or find a premium theme and upload it to your website.

*To upload your theme:

   1. Download the theme you want to your computer

   2. Go into your Wordpress Dashboard

   3. Go to “Themes” under “Appearance”

   4. Click “add new” at the top (see image below)

   5. Click “Upload"

   6. Click “Choose File"

   7. Select the theme from where you saved it on your computer

   8. Click “Install Now” (see image below)

How to Create Your Own Website--Step 4: Upload plugins

I recommend you use these plugins:

   1. All in One SEO Pack – helps with your websites SEO

   2. Google XML Sitemaps –builds your websites sitemap for you (this is used by search engines)

   3. SNV Facebook Like Button – adds Facebook like buttons and helps encourage sharing (this brings in new visitors)

   4. Subscribe To Comments – helps bring people back to your site who have commented on your posts previously

   5. Wordpress.com Stats – helps you determine where people are coming from and what’s popular on your website

   6. WP Minify – speeds up your website

   7. WP Super Cache speeds up your website

Follow these steps to install each plugin:

   1. Go into your Wordpress Dashboard again

   2. Click on “Plugins” on the left

   3. Click on “Add New”

   4. Search for the themes I recommend in the search box (see image below)

   5. Click install next to each plugin you want (see image below)

   6. Activate each plugin and adjust settings how you wish

And that’s it! You’ve now got a great looking, highly SEO optimized website up and running. Now go start creating great content!
